Lid applicators are robotic cells developed by ATP Packaging. They are , using artificial vision systems and Delta robots, automatically detect, apply hot melt and place the lids on the wet wipe packs.

Labeling stations, quality control and different lid feeding systems can be integrated.

A versatile solution available in various models

The lid applicator is available in 4 versions covering the production needs of wet wipes packaging, with the versatility and reliability required in this sector. From models with speed up to 80 lids per minute, to the equipment with speed over 150 lids per minute. Design with one or two robots, and single or double picking.

LID APPLICATOR WITH 1 ROBOT

High-performance lid applicator for wet wipes packages, designed to handle 80 to 110 lids per minute, depending on lid type and conveying system used. Equipped with one Delta-type robot. This model is available in two configurations: single picking and double picking.

LID APPLICATOR WITH 2 ROBOTS

High performance lid applicator for wet wipes packages, designed to apply from 110 to over 150 lids per minute, depending on lid type and conveyor used. Equipped with two Delta-type robots, available in two versions single picking and double picking.

The machines have a robust structure that reduces vibrations that could affect the holt melt bead quality. Their designs facilitate easy access, with the electrical cabinets located at the top, and offer full visibility from all angles of the machine. In addition, manual and robotic lid feeding systems can be integrated, including vertical magazines, carousel and robotic bulk feeding, making it easy to adapt to different production requirements.

Applicators incorporate advanced gluing technology, capable of applying one or two lids from vision belt conveyors or pusher conveyors. Their vision system, specifically engineered for lid application, not only optimizes the process, but also allows the hot melt bead to be adjusted by the end user. With state-of-the-art robotic control and an intuitive interface, the machines ensure precise and accessible operation for professionals with different levels of experience.

Additional options include flip-up glue guns, special surfaces for easy adhesive cleaning, remote connection, labelers, a package quality control rejection system, and the possibility to handle the infeed of two packages in parallel.

Lid Applicators FAQ

The machine automates the application of lids by first applying a bead of hot-melt adhesive to the underside of the lid and then precisely placing it onto the area of the package marked by the opening label. This integrated process ensures the lids are accurately positioned, securely adhered and easily opened by end users, thereby enhancing both production efficiency and product usability.
The lids are delivered via a belt conveyor or pusher conveyor. If a belt conveyor is used, a vision system is incorporated to locate the center of the lid pickup and communicate it to the Delta robot. In the case of a pusher conveyor, the pickup position is synchronized with the movement of the pusher and the position of the Delta robot.
The machine’s ability to apply between 80 and 150 lids per minute depends on several factors, including the configuration of the applicator, the specific characteristics of the cap, and the efficiency of the conveying and gluing system. System configurations and adjustments allow adaptation to different production speeds and types of lids.
It is vital that the lids have good shape stability and a maximum deformation within the tolerance limits. This ensures that they can be handled and positioned correctly on packages during the automated process without causing errors, even when the distance between packages varies.
