Lid applicator for wet wipes packs

The project was contracted by a business group that develops, manufactures and markets hygienic products for the pharmaceutical and consumer goods sectors in South America. They have a vast chain of offices and factories located across the continent.

The challenge: A robotized machine for lid application

In order to meet the growing demand for wet wipes and to strengthen its position in the market, the customer requires a robotic solution to increase the production capacity.

The challenge is to develop an automated device for applying lids to the packs of wet wipes.

The solution: Lid applicator with artificial vision and integrated quality control

The implemented solution consists of a lid applicator with an automatic labeling machine and a state-of-the-art vision control system. A robotized cell with 1 double gripper Delta robot automatically detects, applies hot melt and positions the lids on the wet wipes packs. The whole process is actively controlled by an integrated artificial vision system. With lid gluing speed of up to 120 ppm, use of non-adhesive materials and unique frame robustness, the applicator maintains minimal level of vibration and ensures easy maintenance. Thanks to the cell’s automatic quality control system, defective packs are identified and rejected. This ensures that only the best quality products reach the market, improving customer satisfaction and the company’s brand reputation.
