CHOCOLATES PACKAGING
Packaging in Trays, Cartons or Flowpack Bags
Chocolates or pralines are one of the most prolific products with regard the kind of packaging they come in; from the simplest ones in bulk in vertical bags, to the most sophisticated cartons regarding shapes and materials. One of the most common types of packaging is the assorted packaging in cardboard cartons with cell trays, with one or various levels with dividers that protect the product. For the packaging of chocolates, ATP Engineering & Packaging offers vertical-form-fill-seal systems from the manufacturer Kliklok International, tray placers, loading systems with self-made high speed artificial vision guided robots.

One of the main challenges for packing chocolates into trays is the delicate pick-up without affecting the quality of the chocolates; how to avoid any marks of the picking equipment such as suction cups, as well as breaking the chocolate sheets that coat the chocolate. Another fact to be taken into account is the shine that chocolate generates in the vision systems as well as the guiding and fixing of trays so as to avoid the elasticity effect during the loading process. The speed of high speed picking systems is the highest among the products that are picked up by delta robots, reaching up to 140 units per minute. Unlike the packing complexity of some chocolates, their case packing is usually easy. We use standard case packing machinery such as machines from the CP ![]() (Click for more information) series in which the cartons are grouped and a manipulator picks up the whole group and places it inside the boxes. |
